AMAZING!!! Randomly picked this place to eat while stopping through on our way to Shenandoah — couldn’t have made a better choice! Drinks are incredible, food was very good, lovely service, and the vibe was awesome! Great happy hour, they even have pinball machines! Sadly didn’t get to attend a show there, but would love to in the future! Ever consider opening a second location in Maryland? I’d be first in line! (Please!!)
We went on a Sunday afternoon for dinner and it was pretty empty upon our arrival. We were seated quickly and got drinks and an appetizer soon after. The wings were amazing, came out super hot and tasted amazing (we had Buffalo). We also got the loaded fries because we didn’t think the burgers came with fries- we were wrong. The loaded fries were really good and served with ketchup and sour cream, both were great. The smash burgers were good and the price was amazing too, burgers did come with a good portion of fries and all together was a good sized meal. Would recommend eating here, paid about $40 for two people with appetizers and drinks. Great price and atmosphere, would come back for the food too!
Met some friends here for brunch. Little limited menu, but had a number of things to choose from. Definitely a collage bar, really got that feel. Not sure, but it seemed that they have a lot of live music and comedy here. Open pretty late as well. Looks like they take their name from a great movie The Outsiders, since they had a bit of art based on it. Although, they didn't have any of who said, "Stay Gold, Ponyboy, Stay Gold" They had some video games and a cool Wizard of Oz, one that was a limited 97 of only 1000. Pretty big open space, with some outdoor patio in the back. Food was good, pretty good sized portions, especially the BLTs. Service was a litte touch and go. They had a little duet playing some light jazz for brunch. There is a bar in the back as well. I can see this place being pretty packed on a Friday/Saturday night.
This place has a funky charm that reminds me of some of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. Relaxed atmosphere, great staff, food was pleasing and will return soon.
Shrimp and Grits were authentic, potatoes had a lite crunch, the good kind. I rarely order a burger however I'm glad I did today, it was 100% fresh and hit all the marks. Look forward to dinner here one day, brunch was just right. Should have gotten the Mimosa's, nice variety.
We were on a bar crawl and I THINK this is where we did most of our hanging out - it was the end of the night lol They had some excellent shooters and the other drinks were great too! The back deck atmosphere was exactly what we needed at the end of our crawl and appreciate the experience for sure!
The best vibe in Harrisonburg. The best music venue around. Excellent service and solid variety on their drink specials. Always tip your bartenders and staff!
The nachos here were awesome. My girlfriend and I stopped in for Sunday brunch. It was after 1pm and the place was pretty much empty. It took several minutes to get a table. It seemed they only had two wait staff working and one had to get a booth cleaned so we could sit down. Other than the wait and the service being just a bit slow the great tasting food made up for the service. I had coffee with was lack luster and a bit weak but when the food came out this was what it was all about. We had the Nile nachos which were very tasty and so delicious. We also had a side of biscuits and gravy and the biscuit was prepared to perfection and the sausage gravy tasted great. We also shared a chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders were good and the waffle okay but it was nothing special. We got some of the golden sauce and that really worked well with the chicken tenders. I'm not sure if I would get chicken and waffles again but definitely get the nachos and the biscuits and gravy. I would go back to try some of the other items on the menu. My girlfriend got orange juice. It was good but again nothing special.
In the front as you walk in they have pinball and arcade machines that you can play. They have a nice bar at the back and they also had outdoor seating on the back deck.
All in all it was a good visit.
This place has a great atmosphere, good food, drinks, and friendly service; however, be prepared to spend two plus hours sitting in this restaurant. Expect 20 some minutes to order your food and another 30 plus minutes to get it. This is when it is not busy. This has been Golden Pony’s normal for years, pre and post pandemic. I don’t understand why this is the case because staff is always super friendly and wants to be helpful. I have never been to an establishment that makes it so hard to spend my money.
I still recommend this restaurant, but be prepared to be patient. My experience with Golden Pony is honestly upsetting because it seems so close to greatness. The consistently slow service every single time I’m there is baffling.
